Double is the stage name for Japanese pop singer Takako Hirasawa. Previously, it was the name for a vocal group comprising Takako and her sister Sachiko.
Takako and Sachiko Hirasawa were born in Niigata, Japan, and made their debut as a duo in 1998 under the name "Double." Sachiko died of a brain hemmorage on May 21, 1999. Takako, rather than abandoning the name, adopted it as her stage name.
Takako continues to record and perform under the name "Double," has in excess of two dozen recorded singles, ten full-length CDs and two DVDs,[1] and is recognized as a leading R&B singer in Japan.[2].
Takako released her first greatest hits album "10 Years Best: We R&B" on February 6, 2008.
On May 27th 2008, The album "The Best: Collaborations" was released by DOUBLE, featuring a new duet with JPop Superstar Namie Amuro. So far, the album has reached #2 on both the Oricon Daily and Weekly Charts.1
