Kourtney Mary Kardashian (born April 18, 1979) is a celebutante, apparel retailer and television personality. She is best known for her appearances on the reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

Kourtney Kardashian was born in Los Angeles, California to Armenian American (father) and Dutch-Scottish American (mother) descent,1 to attorney Robert Kardashian and Kris Jenner (née Houghton), and is the oldest child of Kris Jenner and Robert Kardashian. Robert Kardashian, best known for being O. J. Simpson’s lawyer during his murder trial, died on September 30, 2003.2 Her mother, Kris, divorced Robert in 1989 and married former Olympian Bruce Jenner in 1991.3 Her mother is the owner of Los Angeles children's shop Smooch.1
Kardashian attended the Catholic all-girls school Marymount High School. Following graduation, she left California to move to Dallas where she attended Southern Methodist University for two years. She then moved to Tucson and attended the University of Arizona, graduating with a degree in Theatre Arts and a minor in Spanish. Her classmates included Nicole Richie, Heather Blair, and Luke Walton.1
Kardashian has four younger sisters, (from oldest to youngest) Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Kendall Jenner (half-sister), and Kylie Jenner (half-sister). She has one younger brother, Rob Kardashian. Kardashian also has three step-brothers, Burt Jenner, Brandon Jenner, and Brody Jenner, and she has one step-sister, Casey Jenner.
In 2005, Kardashian joined the cast of Filthy Rich: Cattle Drive, a reality show in which celebrities lived together in a small town in Colorado. She was portrayed as a stereotypical spoiled rich girl, but has indicated that the producers of the show contributed a large amount of money to charity.1 The show was created for E! Entertainment Television by actor/producer Justin Berfield and Joe Simpson. It was on that E! television series that the network became aware of Kardashian and her family.
In 2007, Kardashian's mother Kris created E!'s Keeping Up with the Kardashians, a reality show centering on the life of Kardashian and her sister Kim. Since the beginning of the series, she has become a significant character on the show and has developed her own fan base.1 She is known as "The Unassuming Firecracker" for her quiet but spontaneous personality.4
Kardashian owns and operates DASH, a clothing boutique in Los Angeles, with sisters Kim and Khloe. She also assists her mother at her children's clothing boutique, Smooch.1
