Peter Klaus

Peter Klaus, the German prototype of Rip Van Winkle, was allegedly a goatherd who slept for the same number of years and at the end had similar experiences. The character is found in Peter Klaus the Goatherd by J.C.C. Nachtigal1, a short story set in a German village.
