Incumbent:
Floyd Roland
Style: The Honourable
Appointed by: Tony Whitford
as Commissioner of the Northwest Territories
First : George Braden
Formation: 1980

The Premier of the Northwest Territories is the first minister for the Northwest Territories, Canada. They are the territory's head of government and de facto chief executive, although their powers are considerably smaller than that of a provincial premier.

Unlike most other Premiers who are appointed by a Lieutenant-Governor or Commissioner on account of their leadership of a majority bloc in the legislature, the Premier of the Northwest Territories (and the cabinet) is directly elected by the non-partisan members of the Legislative Assembly in accordance with the system of consensus government and then appointed by the Commissioner of the Northwest Territories.12

Before 1994, the term Government Leader was used instead, but the title of Premier was retroactively applied back to George Braden in 1980, as they were informally called premier by members of the Legislative Assembly even though the title was not recognized in law, based on historical precedent. From 1897 - 1905 Frederick W. A. G. Haultain used the title of Premier of the North West Territories.

The current Premier of the Northwest Territories is Floyd Roland.
