Reed Construction Data was founded in the United States in 1975 as a provider of construction news and information to the construction industry. The company has its headquarters in Norcross, Georgia and is a subsidiary of Reed Business Information.

Reed Construction Data is a division of New York-based Reed Business Information, which is in turn a member of Reed Elsevier plc.

In 2002, Reed Construction Data purchased CMD Group, a Canadian provider of construction industry news and information. CMD Group changed its name to become Reed Construction Data – Canada soon thereafter.
