One of the youngest presenters on national radio, Robin Burke had risen though the ranks of student radio and landed himself a slot at one of the highest profile radio stations in the land ' Virgin Radio ' by the tender age of twenty. It was a school trip to Oxford's Oxygen FM aged fourteen, which whetted Robin's, appetite for a life on the airwaves. The journey to fulfilling this ambition started one hot summer's day ' when instead of revising for his annual school exams he decided to go and knock on the door at Oxford's local radio station; Oxygen FM.
After turning up so many times they couldn't turn him away again, Robin landed himself a valuable stint of work experience which saw him go from helping to produce other DJs to landing the Weekend Breakfast Show for himself.
His next move, aged just sixteen, was to regional, commercial station Fox FM presenting the coveted 7-10pm evening slot 'The Interactive Juke Box', whilst still studying full time for three A-Levels.
Having commenced a BA in Film Studies, it was during a lecture on camera training that he received a voicemail from Virgin Radio Programme Director Paul Jackson.
Since starting on Virgin Radio in March 2002, Robin has covered Weekend Overnights and Virgin Radio's Most Wanted Show. So far Robin has interviewed bands including The Kaiser Chiefs, The Fray and uber-babe Jordan whilst enjoying the high-life of film premieres and show biz parties. He is one of the industries rising stars and will no doubt dominate the airwaves for years to come.
Alongside Virgin Radio, Robin has recently hosted the Hit40UK on American radio network Worldspace, and regular podcasts for Napster and Aloud.com. He is also the voice of Film4 and occasionally Channel 4.
Robin used to work as a DJ at Absolute Radio. He used to present the Early Breakfast show Monday-Friday 4-6am, from Monday 7th January. When Virgin Radio rebranded to Absolute Radio, Robin, along with JK and Joel, left the station. 1
