Feniton Railway Station is a railway station that serves the village of Feniton in East Devon, England. It is operated by South West Trains and is on the West of England Main Line
It was previously had several different names, but from 1874 to 1967 it was known as Sidmouth Junction as it was the interchange with the branches to Sidmouth and Exmouth via Budleigh Salterton.
The station was opened on 19 July 1860 when it was known, as it is today, as "Feniton", but less than a year later it was renamed (on 1 July 1861) as "Ottery and Sidmouth Road". In February 1868 this was chnaged again to "Feniton for Ottery St Mary" and then fianally became "Sidmouth Junction" on 6 July 1874.
It closed along with the branches on 6 March 1967 The original station building was demolished shortly after closure.
It was reopened on 5 May 1971, when the name reverted to the original "Feniton". this was a result of local campaigning by the residents of the rapidly expanding village.
As the original building had been demolished, a modern prefabricated building was provided when the station reopened. The platform is short and long trains overhang the platform and level crossing to the west of the station. Until the platform can be lengthened, selective door opening is used, where only the doors on the front unit will open.
