The State of Somaliland was a short-lived independent state in the Horn of Africa that existed in the five-day interim between independence from United Kingdom on 26 June 1960 and integration into the Somali Republic on 1 July 1960. Its only prime minister was Muhammad Haji Ibrahim Egal, who also served as de facto head of state.

During the short life of the state there were fears of clashes with Ethiopian tribes1.
