Torridge and West Devon is a county constituency represented in the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom.
Contents |
The constituency is based around the western portion of Devon. The main towns within the constituency are Bideford, Great Torrington, Holsworthy, Okehampton and Tavistock.
Following a review of constituency boundaries conducted by the Boundary Commission for England in Devon, a significant change to existing constituencies means many electoral wards have been used to become part of a new Central Devon constituency. These changes have now become law.
The constituency will lose wards of West Devon Borough in the north and west of that local authority surrounding Okehampton.
Local Conservatives estimate a notional majority of just over 2,000 votes before any swing is applied at the next General Election.
Prospective Parliamentary Candidates
The Labour Party have recently selected the 21 year old, Darren P Jones, to fight the next General Election in Torridge and West Devon.
