| Requests for permissions |
- This page enables administrators to handle requests for permissions on the English Wikipedia. Administrators are able to modify rollback and account creator rights.
- Editors wishing to request a permission flag here should do so following the procedure below. Processed requests are automatically archived.

Permissions
- Rollback: Rollback enables users to remove vandalism much more quickly and efficiently than by undoing it. Users who do not demonstrate an understanding of what constitutes capable vandalism fighting, either because they have no or little history of doing so, or show a poor ability to discern between good and bad faith edits will not be granted this right. For a more detailed explanation of rollback and information about when it is appropriate to use the tool, see Wikipedia:Rollback feature. For information about the technical details of the feature, see here.
- Account creator: The account creator flag is granted to users who are active in the account request process. The flag removes the limit on the maximum number of new accounts that can be created in a 24 hour period. It also allows users to make accounts with names similar to other accounts. The account creator flag is only given to users who participate in the ACC process and may be removed without notice should a user's participation in the account creation process cease.
- AutoWikiBrowser: AutoWikiBrowser is a semi-automated Mediawiki editor for Microsoft Windows 2000/XP/Vista designed to make tedious repetitive tasks quicker and easier. It is essentially a browser that automatically opens up a new page when the last is saved. When set to do so, it suggests some changes (typically formatting) that are generally meant to be incidental to the main change.
- Please read the quick guide on the main page before requesting permission. In applying for AWB access, you indicate that you will abide by that agreement. Also, this page is for requesting AWB Access for this wiki (English Wikipedia) only. Other projects have their own check pages and you should ask local sysops to add you there.
- Note that users with under 500 mainspace edits are RARELY approved. Also, you only need to give a reason for wanting AWB access if you have fewer than 500 mainspace edits! If approved, your name will be added to the CheckPage.
- As a guideline, you should have at least 500 edits and a clear understanding of the policy before requesting NPW. Any administrator can approve users (and himself/herself) for NPWatcher: just add the user name(s) to this protected page in alphabetical order, inform the user(s) that the application has been processed (better with User:Martinp23/NPWatcher/Approval template).
Note: While the IP-block-exempt right can also be granted by admins, this should not be requested here. Requests for the IP-block exempt right should be sent to the unblock-en mailing list or, if there are significant privacy concerns, to the CheckUser list.
Removal of permissions
If you wish to have any of your permission flags removed, you should contact an administrator.
This is not the place to request review of another user's rights. If you believe someone's actions merit removal of a permission flag, you should raise your concern at the incidents noticeboard.
Note: The administrator flag can not be removed using this process page.
Process
Requestors
To make a request for a permission, click "add request" next to the appropriate header and add the following code:
*{{subst:rfp|Your Username|Short reason for wanting permission}} ~~~~
Do not simply edit this page and add your request, or it may be removed. Any editor may comment on requests for permission.
Administrators
Administrators are permitted to grant rollback and/or account creator flags to any user who demonstrates a need for the tool(s) and can be trusted not to abuse them. They should review a user's contributions (i.e. reversion history) or account creation logs to ensure the tools will be used appropriately and check for any indication of potential misuse.
Once an administrator has granted a permission or decided to deny a request, they should add {{done}} or {{not done}} respectively under the request with their comments. The request will then be archived automatically: approved requests for this month will be placed here. Declined requests for this month will go here.

| Before using Rollback |
|
Editors requesting Rollback should read Help:Reverting and Wikipedia:Rollback feature before using the tool. Misuse of the feature, even if unintentional or in good faith may give cause for it to be removed.

- I'd like to request rollback permissions. I've been using Twinkle but would like to go with something less bandwidth-heavy. Thanks for considering. SheepNotGoats (Talk) 01:32, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
- I would like to have rollback b'coz it makes it easier to fight vandalism, removing which can be tedious at times. I have removed vandalism several times and as early as my first edit. I have read and understood the policy on rollback. Shiva (Visnu) 18:31, 20 November 2008 (UTC)

Hi all - I'd like to request rollback permissions. Cheers, Whitehatnetizen (talk) 13:06, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
Y Done Normally I'd be concerned about your low number of edits but their quality leans me to trust you'll know how to use the tool. Pedro : Chat 13:37, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
- Fatal!ty (talk • contribs • count • total • block log) - I'd like permissions for NPWatcher to aid in patrolling Special:newpages--Fatal!ty (T☠LK) 13:36, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
- Irunongames (talk • contribs • count • total • block log). I would love this tool to be able to patrol new pages faster and in a better manner.
- Bencmq (talk • contribs • count • total • block log).Well, can it be used in other languages?
- DigitalNinja (talk • contribs • count • total • block log) It would be nice to stop doing things manually. DigitalNinja 03:15, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

- I'm going to expand my section a little since obviously I'm getting no NPwatcher lovin'. I would very much like an efficient way to relieve the work load on other editors preforming this task. I understand CSD very well, and it would be great to give me something to do besides working for consensus at pages where consensus is all but impossible to obtain. I already have Twinkle, Popups, and Rollback rights, plus I like puppies and kittens. DigitalNinja 19:49, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
- Oh please give me an easier way to add templates and messages to usertalk pages for CSD actions! DigitalNinjaWTF 07:19, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

- Beano (talk • contribs • count • total • block log) Would like access to the tool in order to stop patrolling pages manually. This would really help me do my new page patrolling quicker. ~Beano~ (talk) (contribs) 17:11, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
- ImperatorExercitus (talk • contribs • count • total • block log) Even though I use Twinkle (and rarely, Huggle) to mark pages that meet WP: CSD, it just lacks the same efficiency as NPWatcher! Imperat§ r(Talk) 18:15, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

- Arbitrarily0 (talk • contribs • count • total • block log) I spend a lot of time on Wikipedia patrolling new pages and I would greatly appreciate being able to do it with NPWatcher because it is so much more efficient. I currently use Twinkle to help me patrol new pages, but after reading through the NPWatcher manual I realized how much more proficient NPWatcher is. I am familiar with the AfD process, the proposed deletion process, and the criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks, αЯβιτЯαЯιŁΨθ (talk) 21:49, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
- DavidWS (talk • contribs • count • total • block log) I'd rather use a tool dedicated to NPWatching over Twinkle or Huggle. DavidWS (contribs) 15:52, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

- Cyclonenim (talk • contribs • count • total • block log) — I'm currently proficient with the ACC tool and rollback and am looking to expand into new page patrol. - Neurolysis (talk • contribs • count • total • block log) — Looking for an effective NP patrol solution, I think this might be right up my street. — neuro(talk) 19:30, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
- Example (talk • contribs • count • total • block log) - Ah, a tool made only for NPP. Hopefully, this will tag pages properly (unlike Huggle) and will be fast (unlike Twinkle). Thanks! DARTH PANDAduel 02:16, 20 November 2008 (UTC)

- Could you expand on what you would use AWB for as you've only 311 mainspace edits? Thanks. --Rodhullandemu 18:33, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

- I will fix minor formatting errors with this tool and correct spelling. I will add wiki formatting to pages that do not follow formatting rules. I will add "unsourced" for statements not sourced. MathCool10 (talk) 19:51, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

- I'm assuming that users who ask for AWB access may not be so active as to check whether they've been granted it every day, or even watchlist this page. Hence, I tend not to delete applications until roughly 48 hours have elapsed. Of course, they can always check the list of approved users, but for those whose applications are borderline, it helps if the record is maintained here. Comments? --Rodhullandemu 00:09, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
- If you deem it necessary, that's completely okay with me. :) Best wishes, —αἰτίας •discussion• 21:02, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
- Hmmm... I'm not sure whether this is right. -- MISTER ALCOHOL T C 05:15, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
- In what way? --Rodhullandemu 07:19, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
- Well, administrators would never have their rights revoked because it's automatic with them. If this was to happen to non-administrative users, then that does not "balance the scales". Thanks. -- MISTER ALCOHOL T C 03:03, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
- I was talking about how long we keep applications listed here after being considered. There's no issue about removing rights; just as AWB can be granted by any Admin, it can also be removed by any Admin if it's misused. In borderline cases I usually seek a second opinion, but there is always the option of a user requesting a review at WP:AN. So I don't think the issue arises. --Rodhullandemu 04:47, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks. -- MISTER ALCOHOL T C 06:41, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

- Maybe... If R&E doesn't do it, then who will? It will help, but I think that was unnecessary. Thanks for the advice, though. -- MISTER ALCOHOL T C 05:03, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
